Healthbox has a dual mission to empower healthcare entrepreneurs while serving as a catalyst of change by exposing the industry to new and innovative solutions. Healthbox is a platform to stimulate early-stage innovation, enabling entrepreneurial success while creating a collaborative global ecosystem to build positive change in the healthcare industry. Our goal is to identify high- potential healthcare technology startups that address the meaningful industry challenges and provide them with the resources, support and network to enable rapid development and growth. We also aim to provide a valuable platform for the wider industry to engage with innovative companies and learn from the broader entrepreneurial community. Collaboration is an essential word in every healthcare industry leader’s vocabulary. The systemic pressures to simultaneously reduce costs and respond to new payment incentives while improving quality have created an undeniable imperative for change. The Healthbox platform is facilitating the formation of unique partnerships where silos once stood. Healthbox launched in Chicago in January 2012 with an inaugural class of ten startups from around the United States and Ireland. For three months, these companies shared space and ideas in Chicago, where they developed their business models and products, created relationships throughout the industry and closed deals with new customers. Less than a year later, we have brought the platform to Boston and London, England. We continue to build partnerships across the industry, both to break down barriers for healthcare entrepreneurs and to create the opportunity for broader system collaboration.
