Tantric Hatha Yoga, when understood correctly is a specialised system & methodology of powerful techniques & practices to manage the energy field in our body, and ultimately to have control of our mind and thought processes. These techniques include asana, pranayama, bandha, mudra, meditation kriya, and mantra etc. There are six categories of postures according to which way the spine moves and how it also effects the organs and energy flow in the body. The 6 categories are: forward bends, twists, back bends, laterals, inversions, and extensions. Each category has a specific effect on the our energy and mind. There is a systematic approach to practicing Tantric hatha Yoga for each individual as mapped out in two of the most treasured the ancient texts on Tantra, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika & Gheranda Samhita. In this 1hr Symposium Brad Hay will discuss the topic of how to understand and best utilise these practices to have the most positive effect on our lives rather that just getting "better" at yoga poses or the physical aspects of practice.
