Born and raised in MICHIGAN I started to get into sports at a young age. I loved how it made me feel to work hard and accomplish my goals on and off the field. Soon after I seen that I had the ability not only to change my own life for the better through health and wellness, but others too! I went along to get my certification through nationally accredited certifications and receiving my degree in kinesiology from W.S.U. I always loved a challenge so I then pursued fitness competitions where I received my IFBB Pro card in 2013. Being a natural athlete this was a great accomplishment. Eventually I started getting into the commercial print realm through fitness and training. I am grateful to be featured in most of the biggest Exercise magazines such as Flex, men's health, muscle and fitness and more. I finally hit my first magazine cover through muscle and performance in 2015. If you have a vision and you want to make it real, you need to have the faith and belief that it can be done. Mission: To Change the Way People Eat "Feeding People Food - The Way Food Was Meant To Be" Amie Valpone, HHC, AADP is a Manhattan based Personal Chef, Culinary Nutritionist, Professional Recipe Developer, Food Photographer and Writer specializing in simple gluten-free Clean recipes for the home cook. Amie recently healed herself from six years of chronic pain, exhausting every doctor in the country and Mayo Clinic; she shares her story of how Clean Eating saved her life and inspires you to Clean up your food, too. Amie works as a personal chef in Manhattan, NYC where she cooks for a variety of clients including celebrities and people with busy lifestyles who enjoy healthy, fresh food. Visit Amie on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. After graduating from Boston University Business School, Amie followed her passion for cooking and healthy living through training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Amie shares her passion for and approach to "Clean Eating" by focusing on whole foods and ingredients that are good for you and your body. Through The Healthy Apple, Amie provides balanced, accessible and engaging information on the most basic components of good health. Amie struggled with chronic leg swelling, stomach problems and colitis; even venturing out to Mayo Clinic in 2010 to hear there was nothing wrong with her. After spending several years dealing with severe digestive issues, while pursuing a career in marketing and advertising, Amie's health continued to deteriorate. Amie decided to take her health into her own hands and sought alternative options. It wasn't until she began working with an Integrative Medical Doctor that Amie learned she was suffering from heavy metal accumulation and was born without the gene to absorb folate, key in detoxification. This made Amie realize that medicine can only do so much - it wasn't offering her body what it needed to heal. Using acupuncture, yoga, meditation, herbal medicine, and fresh, whole, unprocessed foods, Amie healed and remains 100% symptom free nearly five years later. Amie is unable to digest gluten, sugar and oils. The past few years Amie has discovered she is allergic to sulfates and cannot digest packaged foods, therefore she follows a Clean lifestyle filled with lean proteins, health fats and lots of veggies. In 2011, she quit her corporate job in order to focus on her consulting business, in which she develops recipes, makes media appearances, and engages consumer groups on behalf of food companies. In addition, Amie is active in many organizations that focus on food, nutrition and health. In addition to The Healthy Apple Culinary Nutrition work, Amie is a Food Media Expert and was previously the Culinary Nutritionist for the NBA Fit Program. Amie's experience spans from Marketing, Branding and Advertising at Ralph Lauren Corporate, VOGUE Magazine and the NBA. Her work as a Marketing Consultant spans the hotel, spa, restaurant and FMG sectors-creating menus, developing marketing and PR efforts and building brand awareness for her clients. She has served as a brand ambassador for many well-known healthy living companies such as Rudi's Gluten-Free Bread and Musselman's Applesauce, contributing to their websites, attending conferences and food expos across the nation on their behalf. Amie's insights and advice appears in Glamour Magazine, The Food Network Blog, The Food Network website, The Huffington Post, Martha Stewart Whole Living, Martha Stewart Radio, Clean Eating Magazine, Kiwi Magazine, the Doctors, YahooShine!, Rodale Institute, WebMD, The Daily Meal, Bing.com, Vitacost and Livestrong.com. Amie is the Recipe Editor for Williams Sonoma, Foodista, Foodily, One Green Planet, This Dish is Veg, Eat Drink Better, GIG Gluten-Intolerance Group Magazine, GenConnect, Celiac.com, Around The Plate, Honest Cooking, the NY Times Best Seller Series Skinny Bitch, Healthy Bitch Daily and Gluten-Free Faces as well as the Manhattan Gluten-Free Food Editor for the Examiner. Not limiting her focus to companies and brands, Amie works hands-on with individuals and groups as a Personal Chef, Food Allergy Concierge and Healthy Family Pantry Stylist to guide them through their transition into a healthier lifestyle. Amie works with Whole Foods Market as their Gluten-Free Manhattan Cooking Instructor and is a Gluten-Free Industry Innovator when it comes to helping clients, the community and companies live a healthy and happy life. She understands how difficult it can be to find time in our hectic lives to create a home cooked, nutritious meal, but is here to show you how easy it can be. Struggling with lactose and gluten intolerance from a young age, Amie's recipes cater to the Dairy and Gluten Free lifestyle, without sacrificing taste. Amie believes in everything in moderation. Never using the word "diet," she stands by the truth that "each of us has control over what we put into our mouths and these choices impact our bodies now and in the future."
