As a former professional athlete, Jason Burns knows what it takes to set and achieve challenging goals. He was a former running back at the University of Wisconsin and with the Cincinnati Bengals. The desire to live his own life to the fullest led Jason to realize that true wellness was not a result of fitness training alone, but a well-considered balance of nutrition, exercise and lifestyle. Jason's holistic pedagogy has evolved through not only extensive research and professional mentorship but also years of personal trial and error. His relentless pursuit of excellence is rooted in the philosophy that failure is simply feedback.
An early quest for knowledge about how to maximize the body's performance has turned into a lifelong passion for competitive excellence. Through the founding of his gym, Mettle Fitness, Jason has been able to provide a much needed resource for every age and fitness level. By combining nutrition with elements of strength development, conditioning and speed training he has created a dynamic program designed to get his clients to a level of fitness they'd never dreamed was possible. The gym provides CrossFit for adults, and sports performance training for teens. Jason is a certified personal trainer, and also has credentials as Level 1&2 CrossFit certified.
Jason is a frequent lecturer to student groups, coaching professionals and members of the high intensity training fitness community. He is sought after for his expert opinion, appearing in a variety of television and print stories, including: Fox News' Fox&Friends, ABC7 Chicago, WGN TV as well as the Chicago Tribun, LA Times and TimeOut Magazine. Jason recently launched Mettle Minds Foundation, a non-profit that aims to extend his impact and potential of fitness to transform the realities of young people in under-served communities.
