Many people have issues with insulin sensitivity and insulin levels but follow a diet low in simple sugars and exercise regularly. The goal of this class will be to cover some often over-looked factors that interfere with blood sugar, insulin, and insulin receptors. These range from gut pathogens to endocrine-disrupting chemicals. We will discuss action steps to begin addressing these imbalances.
In this class I will list and explain the best superfoods that will help manage diabetes and blood sugar as well as explain the many other health benefits of these foods. I will also be discussing the importance of regular exercise in helping to prevent and manage diabetes and what kind of exercises get the best results.

Living with diabetes can be very frustrating at times. Low and high blood sugars can get in the way of everything from taking a test at school to having sex. Understanding what the underlying causes of these frustrations are, can help reduce or possibly even prevent Diabetes Burnout. While the actual events you're frustrated about are part of the equation, how we think about our diabetes plays a much larger role. During this seminar, we are going to go over the causes and symptoms of Diabetes Burnout. We are going to look at contributing factors of diabetes burnout: Perception of diabetes, Value placed on Diabetes Self-Management, Perspective on Blood Glucose. Self-Care behaviors that can be used to reduce burnout will be discussed as well. There will be a short question and answer period as well. I look forward to helping you reduce diabetes burnout. See you there!

For many people with diabetes, blood sugar takes a silent toll on cognition, memory, retention, and recall. It can diminish learning, raise stress levels, and spur additional maladies such as depression. It impacts all aspects of life, lifestyle and turns your life upside down. For the people close to them, it has an impact as well: they often must learn to cope with feelings of guilt, anger, being helpless, and worried about this complex health issues. My private practice helps clients of all ages and their families manage life with diabetes.

Charles F. Glassman, MD has practiced internal medicine for over 25 years. Over this time, he has observed that many medical problems and physical symptoms arise from our ability to manage the challenges of everyday life. In 2002, he became the tenth doctor in the US to form what is known as a concierge or patient-focused practice. Such a practice has permitted him time to explore how stress interferes with our ability to obtain optimal, holistic health-balancing mind, body, and spirit. His first book, the award winning Brain Drain, is a handbook on how to overcome common roadblocks to success and a joyful deeply meaningful life. Seeing that his practice was evolving into a true holistic one, he began calling himself Coach MD.
